After presenting my work done for Portfolio Unit and pitching my FMP idea, I received feedback on my work.

• The panel enjoyed my presentation as a presenter. Have confidence and little quirks that makes the presentation fun. Seemed very reflective of my role as Performance Animator. (In the live presentation, I said “Gym and I have a tough relationship; but don’t worry, we’re going to therapy.” which the panel commented on.)

• My animation doesn’t reflect my exaggerated self and personality, which was disappointing since I seems to be a prime resource for movement and exaggeration.

• They were interested at how I presented my scripts before animation, especially on an animation course. It showed I have more confidence in scriptwriting than animation, which is true because I have been writing creatively for almost a decade, whereas I’ve been animating for two years.

We then moved forward to my Pitch for my Final Major Project. The main point of the feedback I received it that it has good work, but its not quite there yet.

• Story felt very similar to Ratatouille. Not a bad thing, but doesn’t feel unique or very “Sid”-like.

• Commercials focus on the product and conveying the feeling of this project, not the character.

• An intriguing piece of feedback I received was “Sid doesn’t need another person to make Sid stand out. Try to tell the story with only that character.”

• A character being in one environment doesn’t convey the idea of culture shock. Try doing character in multiple environments, building up the experiences of culture shock, and then the release. (I identify this as building tension and releasing it for catharsis.)

• When using a product, use a made up one and not an established one. E.g. instead of Pringles, use Galaxy Crisps.
