Self-Promotion
Methods I used to promote myself within my role and making myself
accessible to employers and other artists in preparation for the industry.
To see the my social media pages mentioned (excluding Discord), click the name of the application at top.
Alongside LinkedIn, Twitter is the platform I am most active on. With the combination of animation news and various industry artists actively sharing their work, it is an amazing resource for current events, engaging with tips and tricks from artists, and reliable animation news sources like Animation Magazine. It is also a site where many companies (such as Kugali or DNEG) are active, and learning about their projects and workflows are very efficient to apply to my own projects.

Discord
Discord is a social media platform more so around communities and direct messaging. Unlike other social medias like Instagram or Twitter, you don't recieve a feed but instead join groups called "communities" and speak in each of those groups through text or group voice calls. While I do have professional communities I have joined, I also have personal groups and communities so this lines less with my professional identity and rather in a grey area between personal and professional.

QT in Animation. This is the Queer TAG community that focuses on LGBTQIA+ community professionals within the animation Industry. As a queer animation artist, this has been a valuable resource with connecting with other such professsionals
THU. This is the Trojan Horse was a Unicorn community. I learned about them in their 2023 Fall Career camp I engaged with as seen in Industry Events.
Mentees of Rise Up Animation. This is a subcommunity of Rise Up Animation, focusing on Black, Indigineous and/or people of colour artists in the industry.
Asians in Animation. This group focuses on Asian artists in animation with a variety of online events and resources.
Agora.community. This is the Agora Community discord group, focusing on 3D animation with a variety of rigs, feedback channels, and resources for improving workflow and skills.
r/animation. This is an animation community from artists from Reddit.
This is a fairly new social media application, created by the old founders of Twitter. Its servers have a similar interface to Twitter, but it isn't as intensive or populated. After the rebranding to X, a lot of industry professionals on Twitter migrated to Blue Sky so there is qualitative discussion instead of quantity of artwork on my feed. I think there is a lot of room for this to grow.

Instagram is the platform I am least versed in, but is one of the more interesting ones based on how its feed caters towards visual artists. I am starting to populate my pages with my work, but the communities and resources here seem far more limited than Twitter, Discord or even BlueSky.

Business Card

Digital Carrd
While having a physical business card is efficient and professional, there are certain things I recognised as limitations:
-
A physical business card is weighty and likely to be thrown away.
-
It is often difficult to remember where they have met me.
-
They often have a limit to the amount of information on them.
To resolve these issues, I created a digital card in Canva for my phone lock screen, which I can easily shift between as seen in the video below. The image on the left is my initial design, and the one on the right is my current design after considering branding and my personal professional identity.

The QR code on the Lockscreen and my business card leads to my professional Carrd (a digital card with links to various forms of my social media, similar to Linktree) and provide quick access to my Website, LinkedIn, and other social media like Twitter and YouTube.
